Do HAZWOPER Supervisors need to take both the 8 Hour Refresher and 8 Hour Supervisor Refresher? No!

You can take the HAZWOPER Supervisor Refresher Instead of HAZWOPER Refresher but this doesn't apply to the Initial HAZWOPER Supervisor course.

You're a HAZWOPER worker and have been at the job for a couple of years when the PM walks up and congratulates you on your promotion to Supervisor!

As you'll be supervising HAZWOPER workers, you'll need to take the Initial HAZWOPER Supervisor. As luck would have it, your HAZWOPER Refresher is going to expire next month.

You've just taken the Initial HAZWOPER Supervisor so you're thinking you don't have to take the Refresher.

OSHA is very clear that an Initial training cannot replace a Refresher training.

So yes, you will need to take the Initial Supervisor and the Refresher.

Great news! The following year, you will need to take the Supervisor Refresher. Because it's a HAZWOPER Refresher, that will count as your normal Refresher as well.

Take the 40 Hour HAZWOPER

By the end of 1 year after taking the 40, take the standard Refresher.

Take the Initial HAZWOPER Supervisor and the Standard Refresher.

Next year and from now on, you'll only need to take the HAZWOPER Supervisor Refresher.
